Level 3 - Diploma in First Line Management

The Level 3 Diploma in First Line Management Programme runs over a period of approximately 9 months, with self-study time (typically about 8 -10 hours a month) between workshops,. The Programme is a combination of group workshops, typically one every 4-6 weeks, plus guided self-study and assignments between workshops and 1-1 coaching with a Personal Tutor.


The units we have selected to create our diploma programme are shown below, after an induction to the programme you will follow the units in the order shown.

3001- Personal Development as a First Line Manager - Credits 6 Guided Learning Hours – 20

Learning Outcomes:

1. Understand how to develop and use a personal development plan

2. Know how to plan and manage work

3. Understand how to develop and maintain effective working relationships

 to achieve objectives

4. Be able to maintain a healthy, safe and productive working environment


3010 - Being a Leader Credits – 6 Guided Learning Hours – 25

Learning Outcomes:

1. Understand the Organisational requirements for the leader

2. Be able to understand Leadership Styles

3. Understand how the team leader builds a shared sense of purpose with the team

3005 - Developing individuals and teams - Credits 6 Guided Learning Hours – 20


Learning Outcomes:

1. Understand the factors involved in leading a team to achieve agreed objectives

2. Understand the current competencies of individuals and teams

3. Know how to develop the competencies of individuals and teams

3008 - Improving Team Performance - Credits 7Guided Learning Hours – 20


Learning Outcomes:

1. Be able to identify issues which affect performance

2. Know how to select and apply the best course of action to address a performance issue

3. Be able to take action to achieve the performance issue of an individual


3004 - Managing and Communicating Information - Credits 6Guided Learning Hours – 20

Learning Outcomes:

1. Know how to gather and select data

2. Understand how to interpret data and information related to a work activity

3. Know how to communicate the results of the information analysis


3003 - Meeting Stakeholder needs - Credits 6Guided Learning Hours – 20

Learning Outcomes:

1. Be able to identify stakeholders and plan to meet their needs

2. Understand the process required to continually improve meeting stakeholder needs

3. Be able to prepare a case to support a change in meeting stakeholder needs


3002 - Resource PlanningCredits 6Guided Learning Hours – 20

Learning Outcomes:

1. Understand how to plan resource needs with the team

2. Understand the need for change to resource requirements

3. Be able to monitor, record and control resources within the work area

  You will be given lots of guidance and support for

  the self-study, and you can call on your Personal

  Tutor for help and guidance when you need it.

  Assessments of learning will be a combination of

  practical assignments, some taking place during

  the group workshops, some work-based projects

  and some written assignments.
